Thich Nhat Hanh’s Greatest Hits

This is a wonderful book, sort of like Thich Nhat Hanh’s greatest hits. Melvin McLeod, editor of The Shambhala Sun, has combed through more than 30 writings by Thich Nhat Hanh or interviews with him to select the 365 passages in this book. The writings span nearly 40 years of Thich Nhat Hanh’s insight. The book ranges widely from succinct explanations of profound Buddhist teachings to simple but sincere and helpful daily motivations to do good in the world. I suppose this book was designed for readers to finish in a year, absorbing one passage a day for 365 days. I’ve had this book for a while now and am discovering that it is a book for a lifetime. I meditate on / practice with one passage for days at a time, and am slow to move through the book. Highly recommended. I’ll leave you with this quote. I opened the book just now at random and discovered this succinct gem: #246, One Contains All. When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything. The same is true of time. When you touch one moment with deep awareness, you touch all moments. According to the Avatamsaka Sutra, “The one contains the all.” If you live one moment deeply, that moment contains all the past and all the future in it.

If there were more than 5 stars I would give 10!

I use/ have used a lot of daily meditation/inspiration books. Your True Home is far and away the best! It is deep, challenging and full of wisdom. I have been through it several times and still many of the readings just blow my mind. I will never outgrow or tire of this book. It is a beautiful gift from one of the world's great teachers!

Perfect secular daily "devotional"

I love having a morning reading to think about or meditate on before my day begins. Unfortunately most of the daily devotionals I have found are religious, or just not my style. This book does the trick. I love it! Beautiful reminders and they somehow always seem to fit my life just perfectly.

Wise daily reflection

I use this book for daily reflection - I read it and then write a short version in my planner as a daily reflection when I’m making my gratitude list. The entries are short, and some are a bit “in the weeds” of Buddhism, but they’re usually clear and insightful. Some of his writing is positively poetic, and the editor did a good job selecting the material.

Home is where your Heart is

my book arrived just today, but i already know that i love it and shall bring it with me on morning and evening walks and for the waiting time before lectures concerts and theater. how do i know this to be true? i have read and cherished a copy of this book for two years now - a present from my sister on my moving to my new home. my original book has not only its pages covered with penciled thoughts and dog-eared at most corners, but it has literally been torn in half (the binding subsequently protected with linen tape) so that i can slip it easily in my pocket. if you are organized and methodical and possess self-control, there is one brand-new thought for each of the year's days. if you are like me, you'll dive in at whim - opening it at random, flitting back and forth. the gentle philosophy and subsequent suggestions you will read, are repetitive - they will set up a cadence in your thought - of the little truths that are the whole of truth and the simple ways to truly experience and appreciate your meaningful joyful life.... and i wish for you, too, the well-being that i have experienced from MY copy (copies) of this book(s)....

A Real Jewel

A jewel of a book with wonderful and easily accessible insights to living a good life. I highly recommend it to all who would like to have more happiness and loving-kindness in their lives.

the truth in simple, short meditations

Thich Nhat Hanh has become my favorite, beloved Buddhist writer, up there with Pema Chodron. The beauty of Your True Home is the simple, concise, daily meditations that are thought-provoking,loving, compassionate and true. As a former Christian, I am embracing the Buddhist philosophy of acceptance of ourselves and love for everyone in the world. I adore this book!

Beautiful book

This book sets on my nightstand & I read a page every night. Subject matter is timely & puts one in a positive frame of mind right before bed. Book was in great shape & is holding up well.

This is one of my favorite daily devotionals

This is one of my favorite daily devotionals! I read it every morning when I wake up. It is nice to have a devotional that is a little different from others in that follows the Buddhist way of thinking. Every day has great advice that I try to follow in order to have a great day!

Inspirational

This is a beautiful daily guide -- less than a paragraph a day, and easy to remember. Thich Nhat Hanh is the greatest!
