Since OP ist too dumb or not willing to give full details, although he must be able to read the news: Officer has been convicted for going 126km/h in a 50km/h-zone. The reasoning was that in relation to what happened (burglary and no lifes in danger) he drove disproportionately fast and risked other's lifes with his actions. Since we have very strict laws for speeding, they apply to officers as well from a certain point.

In England they have to halt a speed pursuit if they deem that chasing the other car can endanger others around them by forcing the perp to drive dangerously. It's just logical, don't risk causing a car crash which could kill innocents in order to chase a non dangerous person. Only when the person is deemed a serious threat will they give chase regardless.

Would you rather have police officers threaten your life by speeding when you're on the road or criminals caught for things like robberies? You know, death is this permanent thing where you can't participate in life anymore and robberies are the thing covered by insurances most of the time.

Actually in nearly all countries the Police and other emergency vehicles aren't really allowed to go over the speed limit. But they have to. But could be prosecuted at any time, especially if something goes wrong.
